THE ADOPTION PROCESS

Our adoption process is designed to place our A’s Cat Rescue cats with loving homes, ensuring you and your new pet are a good fit! No need to have a particular animal in mind when starting the process - we are excited to pre-approve you following the steps below so when the right fit comes along - you'll be ready!

Please note that submitting an application is the first step in our process and does not guarantee adoption of a particular cat. Please email me at ahozik0@yahoo.com if you have any questions!

STEP 1

APPLY NOW

STEP 2

You will be contacted via email by Adrienne, from A’s Cat Rescue, within 24-48 hours of submitting your application. They will then schedule an initial phone screening to further discuss your needs, preferences and lifestyle as you look for a new pet.

STEP 3

We will conduct any required checks, including a vet check to ensure your current pets are up to date on medical needs, a landlord check if you rent, and a home visit. Home visits are required to meet with all residents of your home and to identify any risks or items to monitor when your new pet arrives and ensures that everyone is ready to welcome them home! Recommendations on the cats personality verse the new home environment will also be addressed. More then one home visit may occur if there are other animals involved.

STEP 4

Following steps 1-3, you will either be approved to adopt the cat you are interested in or pre-approved and matched with some available options to choose from! You can view the list of current available adoptions, or you can schedule a rescue visit. Coming to meet the cat at the rescue is required. It’s Important to pick the right personality for the adopter so we have a successful adoption. If we don’t have the type or age you are looking for, we can work with our foster partners to find one.

STEP 5

The cat must and will be fully vetted before leaving the rescue. This means spay/neuter, vaccinations (rabies, distemper), testing for FIV, and FeLV micro-chipped. If you are adopting a kitten, it must be 3 pounds before it can be vetted. Sometimes the timing will depend on the availability of the vet and is unfortunately out of the rescues control, we appreciate your patience.

STEP 6

Once you've applied, been accepted to adopt, and chosen a cat through A’s Cat Rescue you will complete the Adoption Contract and pay adoption fees (fees are detailed in the contract and will be available to you for review prior to Step 3). You are now ready to welcome your new family member!!
